Ultimate Reset Cleanse Review – “Buckle up” and join me for a ride as I tell you about my experience…
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW IF THIS POST HELPS YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW!
I need to be VERY clear from the beginning, the Ultimate Reset Cleanse was NOT a cake walk, that’s why I’m going to give it to you straight, with full transparency. What I will say is that it got easier as time went on and I got my mind RIGHT.
Let me give you an idea of what you’re in for. The first thing I did on my last day (and every day) was weight myself. I’ll let the results speak for themselves.
Let me get out my calculator for a minute ……. 21.4 pounds. Did I mention that I stopped the “Reset” after 20 days? It may have been more but I’ll take what I got. My son’s 1st Birthday was on day 21 so I weighed myself in the morning and logged my results.
WATCH THIS QUICK ULTIMATE RESET CLEANSE VIDEO
Let’s go for a ride as I explain my Ultimate Reset Cleanse journey… let me give you a little background on me (quickly).
Before I started any of these “workout” type programs I was rolling in at about 275 lbs. with high cholesterol and a life that was gearing up for an early exit just as many of my relatives. I didn’t want that for my kids or my wife. I couldn’t even read my daughter books at bedtime until I took 10 minutes to catch my breathe after walking up ONE flight of stairs!
I needed to change not only for me but also my family but the fact is I LIKE TO EAT! Most of us do. I just needed to make some adjustments in my meals (I don’t like to use the term “diet” as it means the habit will come to an end and you’ll go back to the way things were) and add some at home workouts to my daily routine. I actually enjoy working out, especially from home. It’s fast, convenient, and I can do it on my own time without wasting time driving to the gym.
Fast forward about two years…..
I’m feeling pretty good but I can’t seem to get any traction regarding dropping some more weight. I’ve kind of slipped back into some bad habits even though I kept working out. I needed a “push” to get me over the plateau I kept hitting. I had a hard time getting below 235 pounds and hovered between 235 and 245 pounds for about a year.
Enter…..the Ultimate Reset Cleanse! The weight loss noted above speaks for itself.
So what is this Beachbody Ultimate Reset Cleanse anyhow?
It’s a 21 day “total reset” of your body back to it’s original factory settings, an “oil change” if you will. The Ultimate Reset Cleanse is broke up into 3 phases, each a week long. You take a different set of supplements each week with some of the supplements overlapping into other weeks. I’ll break this review into phases/weeks for to make it easier for you to follow.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – How should I prepare for it?
You need to establish a firm start date and write it down so that it becomes a reality. Plan your date out a week or so from when you expect to RECEIVE the “Reset” in the mail. This will allow you ample time to review the materials. You’ll want to rid your pantry of any JUNK, the less temptation you have the better.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – Week 1 – What can I expect?
During week 1 of the Ultimate Reset Cleanse you’ll be taking 4 supplements at various times of the day about 30 minutes prior to eating.
Here’s a little information about the supplements:
Alkaline – helps bring your body back to a healthy pH balance. The tastes is 50/50 depending to who you talk to. For the first couple times I just help my breath and “chugged” it. After a few days, I had no problem drinking this stuff. It smelt and tasted like powdered grass, if you can imagine that.
Mineralize – contains pure crystal salt (Himalayan salt), it’s pink, is minimally processed and contains up to 84 natural minerals and elements. It tastes like salt and we’ll be replacing our “normal” table salt with this for now on.
Optimize – promotes healthy metabolism and effective body functions. Made up of systemic enzymes that help turn back the clock and restore our bodies to its full function. Capsule form, no taste, they are not very big and easy to swallow.
Oxygenize – helps provide supplemental oxygen to the body. Comes in a convenient dropper bottle that you put in your water. No taste, no problem.
My first couple days of the Ultimate Reset Cleanse went off without a problem. I followed the meal plan as dictated. Day 3 is where I had problems. I AM NOT a fan of vegetables (most of them anyhow) and soy based products. Ask anyone, Days 3-5 are the hardest and I almost buckled. I never thought it would be difficult until I was a little hungry and I could not stomach the food. I planned on giving up. Luckily my co-worker was doing the “Reset” with me along with my wife. After chatting with both of them and a few others, I decided that I would just have a serving of Tropical Strawberry Shakeology for dinners for the rest of the “Reset”. I added a cup of strawberries and a cup of unsweetened almond milk to it as well.
Isabelle Daikeler (co-creator) has said that the Reset is not meant to punish you and that it’s better to make modifications than to not do it at all. Let’s be realistic, the closer you stay to the program, the better the results you’ll have. My co-worker ate EVERY meal as planned out in the meal plan and our results were about the same, he may have had a better “detox” on the inside than I did but it’s hard to determine that.
My week 1 meals for the Ultimate Reset Cleanse pretty consisted of almost the same thing every day:
Breakfast – two slices of whole grain toast, two scrambled eggs, and a cup of raspberries.
Lunch – Microgreen salad.
Snack – 12 almonds and/or a medium green apple.
Dinner – Tropical Strawberry Shakeology, one cup of strawberries, and one cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
All in all, I never really felt very hungry, when I did I just drank a glass of water. Anyone that knows me will tell you that I like to eat (as mentioned before) and I can eat a lot. I did fine as it related to hunger through the week.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – Week 2 – What can I expect?
The supplement remained the same for week 2 except that you add “Detox” to the mix.
Detox – helps remove toxins and waste in the colon. The “detox” in the Ultimate Reset Cleanse is mild compared to what most other “cleanses” will have you feeling like. You won’t have explosive diarrhea or anything like that. At least my wife, co-worker, and I did not. The detox tastes like “stale” iced tea. I had no issues drinking this supplement at all. I chugged it fast though in 12 oz. of distilled water.
My week 2 meals pretty much stayed the same except for my breakfast and snack.
Breakfast – three cups of fruit total. I usually had a mixture of strawberries, raspberries, grapes (green and black).
Lunch – Microgreen salad.
Snack – Medium green apple (if needed).
Dinner – Tropical Strawberry Shakeology, one cup of strawberries, and one cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – Week 3 – What can I expect?
In week 3 of the Ultimate Reset Cleanse you’ll take the initial 4 supplements from week 1, drop the “detox” from week 2, but ADD the “Revitalize” supplement to the program.
Revitalize – helps revitalize flora in the digestive track. Now that they’ve taken everyone OUT of the digestive track they are restoring a balance of healthy bacteria in the digestive track. Revitalize is a pill that was easy to swallow, not too big, similar to Optimize.
My week 3 meals stayed the same as week 2. I know, boring for some, but I’m perfectly fine with it.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – How Did I Feel?
I was asked this questions THE MOST throughout the whole process. The answer is pretty simple, I felt GREAT! You are discouraged from working out unless you do a little 20 minutes walk or some Tai Cheng. For me, I didn’t work out and walked maybe 5 or 6 days total. My energy levels were really good for the entire day. I did get a little tired as it became close to bedtime and I slept VERY well. I did have one day in the middle of the program where I felt a bit tired but I attributed it to lack of sleep. Most days I got about 6 hours of sleep. I actually did exercise one day, I went to my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class on Day 19 and functioned pretty well.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – How Did You Curb Any Hunger?
I kind of answered this earlier. One of the best ways to curb your hunger is to have a glass of water. The other thing I did about half way through the program was I chewed on some “sugar free” gum. Chewing gum is discouraged but I just had to have some kind of flavor in my mouth as you are only drinking water throughout the entire program.
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – What Did the Reset Do For Your Blood Work?
I’ll let the results speak for themselves:
The cholesterol results themselves speak VOLUMES for how well this program works!
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – How Did You Feel the Day After?
This was kind of funny, and I did it on purpose. I mentioned that it was my little guys first birthday on Day 21 and I celebrated with my family. Well, I ended up eating pizza and having some cake with everyone. To put it bluntly, I felt like crap and immediately wanted to take a nap afterwards. I attribute wanting to take a nap to the HUGE spike in insulin that I experienced after eating the starchy carbs and cake. For the previous 20 days I on a low GI nutritional plan and my body had no idea what the heck was going on. Have you ever wondered why you feel tired after lunch? It’s probably because you ate a bunch of carbs and sugar and your body is trying get back to it’s baseline as it relates to insulin levels (this chat is for another time).
Ultimate Reset Cleanse – What’s Next?
I’m hoping to pay it forward and help as many people as I can get through the Ultimate Reset Cleanse as possible, successfully.
If you know anyone that needs what the Ultimate Reset Cleanse offers, an oil change for your body (if you will), please let me know as I’d like to help them through it. It’ll be very tough to do alone and support through this program is CRUCIAL.

Thank you for the detailed and thorough review. I appreciate your honesty on the good and the bad. Congrats on the awesome results!

I’m so glad you posted this Paul. I read every word! My husband is in the middle of triathlon season, so we decided to wait until October to embark on this journey. (He can’t possibly give up training at this point.) I have to admit – I’m anxious about the detox – not the food. But, I’m looking forward to the increased energy that you and so many others mention. Thanks for this great post!

Great review. I haven’t done the reset yet so I enjoy reading how others fared with it. You got great results – very motivating.
September 19, 2012 at 1:02 pm
WTG! I’m on day 16 and down 8.5 lbs (to 118.5). This is huge for me. It would have taken me about 4 months to get there. And it is hard… I say takes mental toughness and determination.
September 19, 2012 at 2:24 pm
What a great (and accurate) review! I learned so much about my body and my response to food by taking this 21 day journey.

I appreciate your honesty in your review.

Will this program work if I just want to loose some belly fat?
November 6, 2012 at 5:27 pm
Veronica, you can’t spot reduce fat, but yes, you can expect to lose belly fat if you do the cleanse. If you have more questions you are welcome to email me as well.
October 15, 2012 at 2:38 pm
Thanks for a great review – I’m considering whether or not to do the Ultimate Reset, and having “real people” stories about it are very helpful.
October 22, 2012 at 2:59 pm
Thank you for your review! How did you do after day 21? For example, did you go back to “regular” eating? and if so, did you put any of the weight you lost back on?
October 24, 2012 at 3:28 pm
Denise,
Thanks for your question. I did pretty good after the 21 days and put back on about 5 lbs as expected shortly afterwards. I think this is normal as you reintroduce certain carbs and retain more water. It’s definitely worth doing as it made me feel great!
October 25, 2012 at 11:02 am
Thanks for the post. I finished the Reset a few weeks ago. Lost 16# in 21 days (4% improvement in BMI). My blood work was much improved, too. Keep up the good work!
November 10, 2012 at 9:19 pm
but what happens after 21 days is there a meal pkan to follow?
November 27, 2012 at 8:19 am
Michele,
The idea after the reset is for you to incorporate your “newly developed” eating habits into your day to day life. You’ll have had 21 days of proper meal preparation and planning. Just reintroduce meats as you see fit, watch your calorie intake, and make adjustments weekly to ensure you are still on track to meet your goals.
If you need any help, let email me and we can chat more.

Thanks for the info Paul & congrats on your success & hard work – well done. I have an acquaintance who is a coach; he’s pushed me to do this, but I can be so skeptic especially when I am looking at putting out $300 (cdn) & I hate soy products! Always afraid of money makers as well you know? After reading your story I will definitely consider it. I am 47 and feel like I am 75. Going to be a little hard since my fiance lives with me & is not interested at all, but I guess he will have to fend for himself.
January 2, 2013 at 4:50 pm
Lynn,
You WILL be successful. You probably spend $300 in a year on crap that hurts more than helps. I’m not saying it’s not a lot of cash, but I can almost guarantee that you’ll be VERY happy if you follow the program. Besides, it has a 30 day money back guarantee!
As for your fiance, never fret, the support you can receive from your coach, the established facebook groups, friends, family, me, are endless. Set your mind to it, shop ahead of time, and get ready to feel like a million bucks.
Heck, it’s 2013 and you owe it to yourself. Congrats on taking a big step to a new you!
January 3, 2013 at 4:09 pm
Thanks for the review . We are starting on Monday.
January 3, 2013 at 5:10 pm
Pam,
Good luck, you’ll do great.
January 4, 2013 at 10:07 am
Thank you for your honest review, Paul. I eagerly read through it and it motivated me enough to order Ultimate Reset. Once I start, I’m sure I will re-read your blog for extra motivation. One question though … I know it says to not exercise. I just started the Power 90 program though … do you think I can continue it, but with 50% effort? I just hate to go off schedule.
Thanks again, Paul, and great job!
January 8, 2013 at 10:51 pm
Pam,
They discourage any kind of intense exercise. It’s recommended that you walk. If that’s not quite enough, they say you can do Tai Chi (Tai Cheng) or Yoga, but those are also discouraged. I had a buddy who used a Fitbit or Bodybugg (I can’t remember) but he burned just as many calories during the day while doing the reset as he did on a typical day he worked out. Your body is literally “working” to clean our your body and you do not want to add any distress to your system from workouts.
I have heard of people exercising but I’m not sure they actually had the same “internal” results as those who did not as exercise takes the necessary resources your body needs to “cleanse” the body and uses them to help your body recover from exercise.
I hope that helps.
January 22, 2013 at 6:01 am
Thanks for the advice, Paul. I’ll stick to whatever is recommended.
Take care,
Veronica
January 14, 2013 at 10:31 pm
Paul,
After doing the reset how was it with starting to work out again? Is it ok to start back with the insanity workouts? I am really considering doing this and was just curious how after the cleanse your body felt. Thanks for posting your process thru this, it really helps!
January 22, 2013 at 10:11 am
Megan,
Sorry for the delay. You’d be able to pick your workouts right back up. For me personally, I waited a couple days for my body to adjust to an increase in calories then started right back up. Insanity should be fine. Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.
January 17, 2013 at 2:29 pm
Paul, thank you for the review. I was on the fence until I read your review. Sounds tough but I think I can get through it. BTW, congrats on your results.
January 22, 2013 at 10:09 am
Cloe,
You’ll do great! We can anything we put our mind to, right? Thanks for the kudo’s as well.
February 9, 2013 at 6:51 pm
Hi Paul,
Congrats on your success! I’m seriously considering this and am wondering if anyone talked to you about this and .. Smoking. I smoke and want to quit and feel like this we be a good precursor. Any input on that for me?
Thank you!
Jodi
February 20, 2013 at 3:47 am
Thank you for the review, I really appreciate the fact you mentioned your change in your dinner because its been a thought in my mind that with my work schedule and other commitments I wouldn’t be able to have the time that I’ve seen is mentioned in preparing the meals.
Why aren’t you allowed to work out? I ask this because I am a part of a dragon boat team and can’t possible take off practice for three weeks while I do this program.
February 22, 2013 at 11:07 am
Tatiana,
It’s not recommended that you workout while doing the “Reset” as you do not want to reroute the body’s resources away from “giving you the oil change” because of workouts. I’ve had people wear FitBit type devices during the reset and they’re calorie burn from the day was equal, and sometimes higher, when not exercising because of what was going on in the body during the process.
Can you exercise? Sure you could. Would you get the same benefit as if you didn’t workout? Maybe, but I don’t have that information.
February 25, 2013 at 11:36 pm
Well there lays the problem, I can’t take off the three weeks from practice because I’m needed to be there. The season also lasts until october. So I’ll try looking into the side effects of it.
Thank you!
February 22, 2013 at 4:59 pm
Hey Paul,
Thanks for the honest review! Yours definitely was the push I needed and I ordered it today!
I am nervous though as I am an extremely picky eater. Do they give you different meal options? Or are you stuck on a strict schedule?
Also, how did you feel after Day 21? I have read a couple horror stories about people gaining all the weight PLUS more after! Do you think its the lack of supplementation? How are you maintaining your goal weight?
Sorry for all the questions but excited to see what the Reset can help me with!
March 18, 2013 at 9:28 am
Kayce,
You can swap meals within the week you are doing (that’s the recommendation from Beachbody). For me, I think if you’re really struggling to eat the particular meal that day you can swap it as Beachbody suggests or just drink Shakeology for that meal. With that said, you don’t want to have Shakeology for EVERY meal either.
I don’t think the regaining of the weight is a result of the supplements. It’s the result of poor eating choices once they are done. You can do whatever you want to lose weight but if you go back to what you were doing before, you’ll get the same results. Also, the Reset wasn’t made as a “weight loss” cleanse. The reset was created to give your body an “oil change” and the weight loss is just a GREAT side effect. You WILL put a little weight back on but hopefully you developed a few new eating habits in the process and continue to carry those forward, while adding in some workouts, and have even MORE weight loss over the months following the 21 days!
February 28, 2013 at 8:36 pm
Paul, I am on day 4. I am glad that I decided to look up reviews of Ultimate Reset today. Because after looking ahead at the next few days menu, I was going to quit. I do not care for veggies, soy products and other unknown food items. If I can deviate from the menus and have the few known items I like over and over, it might be more doable for me…
March 18, 2013 at 9:23 am
Mary,
I’m glad the review helped! It’s more important to finish the reset than it is to be miserable through the whole thing. Obviously you want to stay as close to on track as you can without deviating but you have to also make certain concessions where necessary.
March 29, 2013 at 10:36 am
Hi Paul,
Thanks for the honest review. I just ordered the reset last night. I drink a lot of coffee during the day, so I know I am going to need to cut back before starting the program. My time frame to start is around the end of April. I had bad head aches when I tried shakeology, so I’m a little nervous of getting them with the reset.
April 8, 2013 at 8:28 am
Rick,
You’ll be fine after 1-2 days. The headaches will suck, but you’re a big boy and will be just fine. Take an aspirin if it gets too bad. Don’t overdue it though as you’re trying to clean your body of all those toxins. The reset is not meant to make you miserable. It’s better to stick with the majority of the plan than no plan at all. My wife had coffee a day or two during the reset (we have young children and we had some long nights with them).
April 4, 2013 at 11:43 am
Paul, I’m about to start the Reset and had a question regarding swapping some dinners with Shakeology. They mention using the Vegan Shakeology but I don’t have any of that just the regular Shakeology. Do you think that this would be a problem?
April 8, 2013 at 8:26 am
I think using the Vegan would be best. Do you know anyone you could just buy a few packets off of? If you email me I may have a few but I’d have to check. The idea is to go Vegan for the second two weeks and I imagine there is good reason based on the supplements you’ll be using to “cleanse” your body. The goal is remove all sources of meat from the diet.
April 15, 2013 at 7:44 pm
Thanks Paul, I’ll see what I can do about getting some Vegan. Maybe my coach has some otherwise I’ll send you some mail and see if you have any available.
May 17, 2013 at 8:30 am
Sounds good, I’ll help in any way I can. You can do this! You’ll be glad you did. Let me know about your results. Come back and post them here.
May 17, 2013 at 9:56 am
How much weight did you lose at the end? I have four weeks left of Insanity so I’d wait till the end to start the cleanse.
May 17, 2013 at 10:20 am
I lost about 21 pounds. I felt great and would highly recommend the reset to anyone needed a boost or to get through a plateau.
April 8, 2013 at 5:37 pm
Very helpful!
I am going to do it. Hoping my hubby will too!
